Well, my intention to watch as much as I could of this series and write about it in the day that followed was pure….my actioning of that intention was poor…bit like England really.
I did manage to watch a fair bit of the days that followed, and I was disappointed to see my previous prediction after the first days play was scarily close to being true. Apart from England making it to day 4 (that’s something chaps) they actually posted an even lower total to chase than first thought.
So, what went wrong? Well, everything to put it bluntly. In the first innings Root showed exactly why he is the daddy of the group, he is seemingly the only bloke there who is fully aware of himself, his technique and how to score bulk runs.
The rest of them look all at sea out there, and it’s such a shame to watch. The bowling was good in parts but they couldn’t put together enough consistency and allowed the Aussies to build a big total, Starc wiping his arse with the attack on his way to a cool 77.
It’s a shame really, and that’s pretty much all I have to say about it. This squad has the talent, but not the minerals.
its going to be 5-0 isn’t it?
